Leeds United were reasonably content with a 0-0 draw away to promotion rivals Burnley on Monday, but they will go all out for a victory when tackling relegation-threatened Cardiff City at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke’s side are unbeaten in 12 matches and never looked like losing against the Clarets, who failed to muster a single shot on target at Turf Moor.

The Whites remain at the top of the table thanks largely to an impressive haul of 38 points from 15 home fixtures.

However, they are sure to have respect for improving Cardiff, who enjoyed a recent trip to Yorkshire when winning 1-0 against Sheffield United in the FA Cup third round.

The Bluebirds climbed to 18th after last Saturday’s 2-1 success at home to Derby County and are four points clear of the drop zone.

Team news

Leeds have been battling on without defender Pascal Struijk (hamstring) and experienced striker Patrick Bamford (hamstring), who have not featured since New Year's Day.

Farke may consider some changes and has offensive trio Mateo Joseph, Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani pushing for recalls to the starting XI.

City midfielder Aaron Ramsey has made only four appearances this season and continues to be sidelined by a muscle injury.

Callum O'Dowda (muscle strain) and David Turnbull (hamstring) are also ruled out and manager Omer Riza may stick with the bulk of the players responsible for last Saturday's 2-1 success at home to Derby.

The stats

Leeds have won 11 of their last 12 Championship home games and the Yorkshiremen side have opened the scoring in each of their last 13 Elland Road fixtures.

The Whites have kept clean sheets in each of their last four matches.

Cardiff are unbeaten in their last eight fixtures and both teams have scored in seven of City’s last eight Championship games.

Prediction

Leeds have the best home record in the Championship and can make it even better by defeating Cardiff in a reasonably comfortable fashion.

The Yorkshire giants defeated the Bluebirds 2-0 in the Welsh capital last September and may be happy to settle for a similar margin of success against a side who have improved considerably in recent weeks.

City were in the relegation zone after a 3-2 Boxing Day defeat at Oxford, but have pulled themselves up the table with three wins and four draws from their last seven league fixtures.

However, Cardiff have won only once on their Championship travels and are unlikely to trouble a Whites side who appear to be on course to nail down one of the automatic promotion slots.
