Manchester City are reportedly among a number of clubs monitoring Brighton sensation Evan Ferguson.

The 18-year-old Irishman continued his remarkable rise in the Premier League with a hat-trick against Newcastle last Saturday, cementing himself as one of the top flight's most exciting talents.

His extraordinary exploits have caught the attention of City, as iNews have claimed, and almost every one of England's top-four contenders.

Etihad chiefs see Ferguson as an eventual successor to Erling Haaland, who is believed to want to join Real Madrid later in his career.

But with the Treble winners also wanting to extend the Norwegian goalscorer's contract to at least 2027, it opens up the prospect of the two starring together in Pep Guardiola's starting XI.

A figure as high as £150million has been quoted for the teenage forward, who has scored 10 goals in 24 Premier League appearances overall.

Ferguson will not add to his six international caps this week after pulling out of Stephen Kenny's squad to face France and the Netherlands with a knee injury sustained against the Magpies.
