York missed the chance to return to the top of the National League as Altrincham scored three times in the first half to claim a 3-0 home win.
Regan Linney opened the scoring after 20 minutes, receiving the ball from Alex Newby’s back-heel and guiding it into the corner.
Linney got his and Altrincham’s second nine minutes before half-time, slotting home on the rebound after George Wilson’s strike was turned against the post by goalkeeper Rory Watson.
Matty Kosylo completed the rout before half-time when he latched on to a weak back-pass and lofted the ball in for 3-0 as York remain level on points with leaders Forest Green.
