Women's Euro 2022: England squad profile
England will be among the favourites on home soil when Euro 2022 kicks off this summer.
LiveScore profile the Lionesses ahead of their push for glory.
England squad for Euro 2022
Goalkeepers: Mary Earps, Hannah Hampton, Ellie Roebuck.
Defenders: Millie Bright, Lucy Bronze, Jess Carter, Rachel Daly, Alex Greenwood, Demi Stokes, Lotte Wubben-Moy.
Midfielders: Fran Kirby, Jill Scott, Georgia Stanway, Ella Toone, Keira Walsh, Leah Williamson.
Forwards: Bethany England, Lauren Hemp, Chloe Kelly, Beth Mead, Nikita Parris, Alessia Russo, Ellen White.
Head coach — Sarina Wiegman
Sarina Wiegman is widely regarded as one of the best international coaches in women's football and took over the England job in September 2021.
The Dutchwoman enjoyed significant success in her previous post as Netherlands chief and won the Euros in 2017 before leading her country to the 2019 World Cup final.
Wiegman enjoyed an impressive career as a midfielder in her heyday, earning 99 caps before beginning her successful coaching career at Ter Leede.
The 52-year-old is aiming to do what Gareth Southgate could not and lift an international trophy at Wembley and her absence from the Netherlands camp could well weaken a potential rival.
Captain — Leah Williamson
England have announced that Arsenal star Leah Williamson will captain her country at the Euros.
The defender, 25, took on the armband in the absence of Steph Houghton, who was left out of Wiegman's final 23-woman squad having not played since January due to an Achilles issue.
After being confirmed as skipper, Williamson said: "This is an incredibly proud moment for me and my family and I am honoured to be asked to lead us at the Euros.
"Steph is one of this country's all-time greats and to follow in her footsteps — and all of those special names who have led the team in the past — means so much.
"Although I will be wearing the armband, I know we have a squad full of leaders who share my pride and passion in playing for our country.
"Whether I am captain or not, I will never take anything for granted and will always do my best for England every time I pull on the shirt."
Williamson has been an England regular since her debut in 2018 and led the Lionesses to victory in the inaugural Arnold Clark Cup in February.
Key player — Ellen White
Ellen White is England's record goalscorer with 50 strikes in 105 caps.
She found the net 12 times in nine outings in 2021 and could very well fire the Lionesses to glory if she keeps up that incredible form.
At 33, White is running out of chances to scoop a major trophy at international level and will likely never have a better opportunity than this time around on home soil as part of a star-studded squad.
The Manchester City superstar's team-mates know they have just one job — get the ball to her near the area and let her do the rest.
One to watch — Alessia Russo
Alessia Russo received her first call up to the England senior squad in February 2020 for the She Believes Cup in the United States.
After initially being selected as a training player for the trip, she was added to the main group for the competition following an injury to Lucy Bronze.
Russo was also part of the young Lionesses squad who finished third at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, alongside Georgia Stanway.
The 23-year-old left for the US in 2017 but returned to England to join Manchester United on a two-year contract in 2020.
She has scored three times in just four caps and will hope to keep that run going in this summer's tournament.
