Manchester City to win and Savinho to give an assist

Manchester City will be looking to extend their perfect start to the Premier League season when they make the trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham on Saturday.

The Citizens eased past Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in their opening match before overcoming an early scare against Ipswich to run out 4-1 winners at the Etihad Stadium.

The Hammers were edged out 2-1 by Aston Villa in their first outing of the season, but they have bounced back with back-to-back victories, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 before knocking Bournemouth out in the second round of the League Cup.

Team news

West Ham are without the services of defender Aaron Cresswell, who is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury.

Lucas Paqueta and Guido Rodriguez, who were both on the bench for Wednesday's win over Bournemouth, are expected to be recalled.

Mateo Kovacic was substituted against Ipswich after picking up a knock and he is a doubt for this contest, while Rodri's availability is also unclear due to a leg injury.

Phil Foden missed the win over the Tractor Boys because of illness but he should be back in contention. Oscar Bobb is not expected back until January after breaking his leg.

The stats

City are on an 11-game winning streak in the league that stretches back to April, while they last tasted defeat in the top-flight against Aston Villa on December 6, 2023.

The Citizens have won their last six away assignments in the league, the last five coming to nil, while they have never lost at the London Stadium in eight top-flight visits.

Brazil international Savinho, a summer arrival from Troyes, has registered one assist from his two league appearances this season.

West Ham have won just one of their last seven Premier League fixtures at home and they have not defeated City in the league since a 2-1 success since September 2015.

Prediction

City's sensational form that helped them land the Premier League title last season has continued into the 2024-25 campaign, with Pep Guardiola's side on a 25-game unbeaten streak.

With the Citizens having never lost at the London Stadium in the league, it is hard to back against them from taking all three points and maintaining their perfect start to the season.

The hosts have made a solid start under new manager Julen Lopetegui, winning two of their three games in all competitions, but City are in rampant form and are firm favourites for a reason.

To give more value to a City win, add in Savinho to register an assist. The Brazil international has started both league games and he provided an assist in the 4-1 win over Ipswich last time out.
