Swansea vs Stoke predictions: Potters to make a point on their travels
- Stoke hammered Portsmouth 6-1 on Wednesday
- Swansea are unbeaten at home in the Championship this season
- Recommended bet: Draw
After trouncing Portsmouth 6-1 in midweek to end a run of three straight league defeats, Stoke head to Swansea in the Championship on Saturday.
The Potters secured the eye-catching victory over Pompey to move on to nine points after eight games played and they now sit 15th in the second tier, three places and two points behind the Swans, who lost 1-0 at Sheffield United in midweek.
Team news
Swansea have no reported fresh injury problems but Luke Williams could freshen up his side with Zan Vipotnik, Joe Allen and Goncalo Franco among the players pushing for starts.
The Potters could be unchanged following their impressive midweek exploits but the likes of Emre Tezgel, Jordan Thompson and Andre Vidigal are options for boss Narcis Pelach.
The stats
Swansea are unbeaten at home this season, picking up eight points from a possible 12.
Stoke sacked Steven Schumacher following a 1-0 defeat to Oxford United on September 14, appointing Norwich City coach Pelach in his place.
After failing to score in his first four appearances for Stoke, on-loan striker Tom Cannon bagged four goals in the rout against Portsmouth.
Swansea won the home fixture between the two sides last season 3-0, while the earlier game at Stoke ended 1-1.
Prediction
Stoke will be on a high after their big victory over Pompey, which was new boss Pelach's first win since taking charge but they are likely to be brought back down to earth by Swansea.
Williams' side have been inconsistent this season with three wins, two draws and three defeats so far but all of those losses have come away from home and they remain difficult opponents for anyone visiting the Swansea.com Stadium.
At home, the Swans have been impressive, beating Preston and Norwich, while drawing with Welsh rivals Cardiff and Bristol City.
Those two 1-1 draws have done little to suggest Swansea can mount a realistic promotion bid this season but they will want to stay in contention with the teams around them in the table who will all be targeting making the play-offs at least.
Stoke have struggled away from home in the league, losing three of their four trips to nil, with the exception being a 1-0 success at Plymouth, but they will be determined to build on their midweek triumph and look good enough to earn a share of the spoils.
