- Stoke have scored only two goals in their last three league games

Under 0.5 Stoke goals

Goals have been thin on the ground in recent Burnley games and that could be the case again when Scott Parker’s promotion-chasing side head to the Potteries to play Stoke on Saturday.

The Clarets have won their last three league matches without conceding, propelling them up to third in the table, just two points off the automatic promotion spots.

Meanwhile, Stoke's indifferent form has seen them slide down to 14th place. Narcis Pelach’s team are winless in their last three matches, drawing all of them.

Team news

Stoke will be without midfielder Ben Pearson, who remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Bosun Lawal is also unavailable due to a back issue, while Sam Gallagher is still recovering from a calf strain.

On-loan Leicester striker Tom Cannon is expected to lead the line for the hosts after netting seven Championship goals so far this season.

As for Burnley, Parker will make a late call on whether captain Josh Brownhill, who missed Tuesday’s win over Coventry with an unspecified injury, is fit enough to return.

Jay Rodriguez should continue up front in the absence of Lyle Foster and Mike Tresor.

The Clarets squad is stretched thin at the moment because of long-term injuries.

Jordan Beyer, Hjalmar Ekdal, Hannes Delcroix, Joe Worrall, Aaron Ramsey and Manuel Benson all look set to miss out again.

Unbeaten in their last six home league games, Stoke have drawn six of their last nine Championship contests.

The Potters have faced only one side currently in the Championship’s top eight at home this season, losing 3-1 to West Brom in August.

Burnley have kept clean sheets in nine of their last 11 Championship matches.

The Clarets have won four of the last eight meetings between these sides with three draws and only one defeat.

Fewer than three goals have been scored in Burnley's last eight away league games with fewer than two produced in six of them.

Prediction

Burnley's rock-solid defence and Stoke's recent struggles in front of goal point towards a low-scoring encounter in the Potteries.

The visitors have been in excellent form and should have enough quality to edge past a Stoke side that has drawn their last three matches.

While the Clarets have not been prolific on the road, their defensive solidity gives them a great platform to grind out results.

In what is likely to be a tight affair, Burnley's superior quality could prove the difference as they look to maintain their promotion push.
