Paolo Vanoli's Torino have made a positive start to the new season and kick week three off on Friday

After two weeks of action from Italy’s top flight, 36-time winners Juventus are top of the Serie A table, with the Old Lady the only side to win both of their opening games.

Torino, Empoli and Parma have all enjoyed excellent starts and are shaping up to be potential surprise packages, while Lecce are propping up the table on zero points.

There are some big Serie A clashes to enjoy this weekend and we have previewed every single match from the Italian top flight’s third set of fixtures.

Venezia vs Torino (Friday, 5.30pm)

Torino have done exceptionally well to build up a four-point haul so early, drawing with AC Milan before beating Atalanta, and their great form should continue against newly-promoted Venezia, who were lucky to come away with a point against Fiorentina in their last outing.

Score prediction: 1-2

Inter Milan vs Atalanta (Friday, 7.45pm)

Arguably the tie of the weekend in Italy sees champions Inter welcome the Europa League holders Atalanta to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The hosts are unbeaten in 21 home matches and should take all three points in an exciting clash.

Score prediction: 3-1

Bologna vs Empoli (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Bologna lost their manager Thiago Motta as well as key men Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee over the summer and that exodus has seen them make a stuttering start, drawing at home to Udinese before being routed 3-0 by Napoli. Empoli beat Roma in the capital last weekend and could hold their hosts to a draw.

Score prediction: 1-1

Lecce vs Cagliari (Saturday, 5.30pm)

The hosts are rock bottom after losing both of their matches and failing to score a single goal while shipping six. They have, however, drawn their last four meetings with Cagliari and could earn their first point of the campaign on Saturday.

Score prediction: 0-0

Lazio vs AC Milan (Saturday, 7.45pm)

Paulo Fonseca has endured a tough start to life with AC Milan, drawing with Torino before being defeated by Parma, but a clash with Lazio, who the Rossoneri have beaten to nil three times in a row, could see the Portuguese pick up his first league win with the Italian giants.

Score prediction: 1-2

Napoli vs Parma (Saturday, 7.45pm)

Antonio Conte's Napoli will be confident of another home win after beating Bologna 3-0 last weekend
Antonio Conte's Napoli will be confident of another home win after beating Bologna 3-0 last weekend

Antonio Conte silenced his doubters by masterminding a 3-0 win over Bologna last weekend and there was plenty of evidence in that victory to suggest they will be strong at home this term. Parma did well to beat Milan in their last game but they could struggle in their first away outing of the campaign.

Score prediction: 2-0

Fiorentina vs Monza (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Monza have registered just 0.82 expected goals across their opening two Serie A games of the season and Fiorentina were held to a 0-0 draw by Venezia last Sunday, suggesting this could be a match to avoid for the neutral.

Score prediction: 0-0

Genoa vs Verona (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Genoa are unbeaten in five home matches and held Inter to a draw in their first league match of the campaign suggesting they should have too much for Verona, who they did the double over last season and who were woeful on their own patch against Juve last weekend.

Score prediction: 1-0

Juventus vs Roma (Sunday, 7.45pm)

Motta has made an excellent start to life with Juve and that should continue against Roma, who were poor against Cagliari and defensively shambolic when losing to Empoli — a side who survived by a single point last term — the following week.

Score prediction: 2-0

Udinese vs Como (Sunday, 7.45pm)

Udinese were somewhat fortunate to beat Lazio last week and could have to settle for a point against Cesc Fabregas’s Como, whose fans will be keen to make plenty of noise in their first Serie A home game since 2003.

Score prediction: 1-1
