Portsmouth will look to pull off another shock result against a promotion hopeful when they welcome Luton to Fratton Park in the Championship on Saturday.

John Mousinho's side were expected to fall short against Leeds in their league opener, but they dug in to secure a 3-3 draw at Elland Road.

Luton were thrashed 4-1 on Monday at home against Burnley, but they will feel they can have more joy against their recently-promoted hosts.

Team news

Mousinho is still without Regan Poole, Jacob Farrell, Josh Murphy and Colby Bishop due to injury problems, while Kusini Yengi must pass a fitness test after a recent groin injury.

Luton boss Rob Edwards still has several defenders out through injury, with Teden Mengi, Amari'i Bell, Mads Andersen, Baiki Hashioka, and Reece Burke sidelined.

The stats

Pompey have lost their previous two games at Fratton Park in competitive fixtures, but they have scored two or more in eight of their last 10 competitive matches in front of their own supporters.

Luton have not won any of their last four, including their final three friendlies in pre-season, and they have shipped 12 goals during that time under Edwards.

Luton conceded the most goals on the road last season in the Premier League, letting in a whopping 48 away from home.

Prediction

Portsmouth could have been three-nil down inside the first 10 minutes against Leeds, but they rallied to cause the Whites problems. Mousinho's team were patient and took the chances that were presented to them, but a return to home soil should bring the best out of them.

They will take confidence from Luton's 4-1 defeat to Burnley, but the Hatters have a better squad than their hosts. Edwards' men probably needed a wake-up call to prepare themselves for another season in the Championship, and they should respond positively in their second game of the season.

Luton were not in action in the EFL Cup in midweek, so the Hatters squad should be fresh and firing, meaning there's every chance they too can have their say on the scoresheet.

Pompey's ability to entertain at home means this game is hard to predict, but goals should at least be on the cards on the south coast.
