Leyton Orient vs Manchester City predictions: Citizens may need patience on cup trip
- Leyton Orient have reached the FA Cup fourth round for the first time since 2010-11
- Manchester City may have one eye on Tuesday's Champions League play-off first leg against Real Madrid
- Recommended bet: Tie/Manchester City Half Time/Full Time
Manchester City's last trip to London ended in a 5-1 Premier League defeat to Arsenal but the Citizens are hot favourites to ease past Leyton Orient in the FA Cup fourth round.
Pep Guardiola's men face a daunting schedule this month, with a two-legged Champions League play-off tie against Real Madrid and league fixtures against Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham.
City brushed aside League Two side Salford 8-0 in the third round and Orient, who are up to sixth in League One after a strong run of form, will hope to put up stronger resistance.
Team news
Orient are likely to be missing key defender Omar Beckles as well as the injured Sean Clare, Theo Archibald and Jordan Graham. New signings Randell Williams and Rarmani Edmonds-Green are cup-tied.
City's January signings Nico Gonzalez, Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis are available.
Rodri, Jeremy Doku and Nathan Ake remain sidelined. Centre-back Ruben Dias is unlikely to feature but goalkeeper Ederson and Oscar Bobb will be assessed.
The stats
Both teams have scored in only three of Orient's last 16 home games in all competitions.
The O's have won seven of their last 10 League One home fixtures to nil.
Seven of Orient's last eight matches have featured under 2.5 goals.
City's last eight games have all produced over 3.5 goals.
The Citizens have lost nine of their last 13 away matches in all competitions.
City have failed to score a first-half goal in six of their last nine away fixtures.
Prediction
City thrashed Salford 8-0 in the third round of the FA Cup when James McAtee claimed a hat-trick and fellow youngsters Divin Mubama and Nico O'Reilly were also on the scoresheet.
With Tuesday's showdown against European champions Real Madrid looming, Guardiola is likely to rest his first-team regulars for the fourth-round tie at Orient.
City should have enough in hand to avoid an upset, having bolstered their squad with a January spending spree, but they are unlikely to roll over their League One hosts.
Most of the Citizens' troubles this season have come away from home as they have lost nine of their last 13 fixtures on the road.
The most recent of those losses was last weekend's dismal 5-1 defeat at Arsenal and the Tie-Manchester City selection appeals in the Half Time/Full Time market.
Orient have been transformed from possible relegation candidates to play-off contenders in League One after a superb run of form.
They lost 1-0 to high-flying Stockport last time out but had won nine of their previous 11 league games, keeping clean sheets in seven of them.
Their other two matches during that run were goalless draws against Burton and Peterborough and that defensive solidity could see them frustrate City until the break.
Richie Wellens' men knocked out Championship side Derby on penalties in the third round and struggling City may have to work hard for a victory in east London.
