Another enthralling round of European action came to an end on Thursday and so it is back to the rigamarole of domestic league drama this weekend.

We have picked out five goalscorers to watch out for in Saturday and Sunday's top-flight fixtures from England, Spain, Italy, France and Germany.

Nuno Espirito Santo decided against starting Chris Wood in their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal last time out due to the striker returning from international duty overnight, but the in-form Kiwi should return to the fold on Saturday.

The 32-year-old has scored eight goals in the league this season – only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have netted more – and after scoring five goals across two appearances for New Zealand in the international break, the striker should be in good form to grab another on Saturday.

Saturday’s top Bundesliga clash sees Der Klassiker take centre stage for the first time this season and hosts Borussia Dortmund will fancy their chances of finding the net.

BVB are yet to drop a point at home this season and four of Serhou Guirassy’s six league goals have come at Signal Iduna Park. Should a chance come his way, expect the Guinean to covert.

Atletico Madrid ran rampant in the Champions League in midweek by putting six past Sparta Prague and they should continue their six match winning run at Valladolid on Saturday.

Antoine Griezmann netted from the bench in that contest, while the Frenchman also scored in their last La Liga match – a 2-1 win over Alaves – and his form could see him take his chance again this weekend.

Alexandre Lacazette will hope to take advantage of a less than secure Nice backline.

Nice’s defending in their 4-1 defeat to Rangers on Thursday was frankly shambolic and they could be in danger of being carved open by Lyon on Sunday.

Captain Alexandre Lacazette only has two goals to his name in Ligue 1 this season, but, should the Eaglets continue to remain open at the back, a player of his quality should have little trouble taking any opportunities that fall his way.

Last season’s Serie A top goalscorer Lautaro Martinez has not had a prolific start this campaign, however, his strike partner Marcus Thuram has picked up the slack.

The Frenchman has eight league goals to his name and netted twice in Inter’s 5-0 thrashing of Verona last weekend.

With Fiorentina failing to keep a clean sheet at home in any of their last five Serie A fixtures, he could continue to find joy in front of goal.
