Dean Henderson is relishing "brilliant moments" with Nottingham Forest after sealing a season-long loan move from Manchester United.

The 25-year-old stopper has struggled to nail down a starting place for the Red Devils behind No1 David de Gea, making just three appearances last term.

Now, he heads to the City Ground looking to kick-start his career once again and force his way into Gareth Southgate’s England plans ahead of November’s World Cup.

Speaking after completing his move, Henderson said: "I’m absolutely delighted to be joining such a fantastic club with an amazing set of fans and a wonderful history.

"I want to thank the manager and owners at Nottingham Forest for the great opportunity to play for this club in their first season back in the Premier League.

"I’m really excited to work with everyone at the club from the manager, players and goalkeeper coach Danny Alcock.

"Finally, just a massive thank you to the fans for the welcome I have received and I can’t wait to celebrate some brilliant moments together this coming season."

The Cumbrian keeper has linked straight up with his new team-mates at their pre-season training camp in Spain, delivering a big boost to Forest boss Steve Cooper.

Previous No1 Brice Samba is expected to depart this summer with Ligue 1 outfit Lens the leading contenders for the Congolese star’s signature.

But Forest’s Welsh boss, 42, no longer has to sweat over securing Samba's replacement.

Cooper said: "Dean is a top-class goalkeeper and he’s hungry for more opportunities to play and to continue to prove himself at the highest level.

"He’s played multiple times in the Premier League but has also experienced the Champions League and international football.

"Again, Dean is someone who has attracted a lot of interest from other clubs and we’re delighted that he has chosen to [join] Nottingham Forest for our return to the Premier League."

Henderson will hope to make an impact similar to his loan stint with Sheffield United during the 2019-20 campaign, when he kept 13 clean sheets as the Blades secured an unlikely ninth-placed finish in the top tier.

His arrival keeps the good times flowing at Forest after 21-year-old forward Brennan Johnson signed a four-year extension with the club on Friday.
