Blackpool made it seven home league draws in a row after they were held to a stalemate by Rotherham.

Steve Bruce’s side had the better of the opening exchanges, with on-loan Middlesbrough winger Sammy Silvera forcing away goalkeeper Dillon Phillips into two smart saves with attempts from distance.

Striker Jake Beesley should have put the hosts a goal to the good shortly before half-time when a looping Albie Morgan corner landed at his feet at the far post but the former Rochdale player could only find the side-netting at the second attempt.

The visitors grew into the game in the second half and could easily have taken the lead through Jordan Hugill.

However, much to the frustration of the travelling faithful, he could only direct Joe Powell’s cross onto the roof of the net.

Bruce rolled the dice and introduced winger Rob Apter, who immediately added an injection of pace into the team and set up the game’s final chance.

Apter squared the ball to midfielder Lee Evans who forced Phillips into yet more heroics in stoppage time that preserved his side a valuable point on the road.

Rotherham move up a place to 14th while Blackpool remain without a home league win since their victory over Burton back in September.
