Aston Villa will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they welcome Crystal Palace to Villa Park on Saturday.

Villa have slipped to ninth in the Premier League standings following two defeats and a draw in their last three outings in the English top flight.

The Villans are actually on a winless run of five matches in all competitions, having lost their last four on the run up to the most recent international break.

Champions League football looks to be taking its toll on Unai Emery's side who are back among the elite in European competition for the first time since the 1982-83 season.

A 2-0 loss at Liverpool last time out was a chastening affair as they managed just two shots on target and the gulf in class between them and the league leaders was quite stark.

However, they should get back on track against a Palace side who are in the bottom three following a miserable start to the season.

Palace beat Villa 2-1 in the Carabao Cup at the end of October but Emery rested most of his key men and they should exact their revenge back at full strength this weekend.

The Eagles have won just one league match in this campaign and were well beaten 2-0 by Fulham before the pause for the Nations League, to pile the pressure on manager Oliver Glasner.

The south London side had high hopes going ahead of the new campaign after winning six of their final seven league matches last season, but they have slumped alarmingly to find themselves in the relegation places.

A trip to Villa Park may not look as daunting as it might at the start of the season but it is difficult to see Palace taking anything from this encounter.

However, they have scored on three of their last four visits to the Midlands venue, while they managed to get on the scoresheet in six of their seven away fixtures this season, so backing a home win in which both teams score looks the best bet.
