- Ipswich sit 18th in the table heading into this weekend's fixtures
- Manchester City are sixth, three points adrift of Newcastle in fourth
- Recommended bet:
Phil Foden anytime goalscorer

Manchester City will be looking to get back to winning ways at the first time of asking when they head to relegation-threatened Ipswich for Premier League action on Sunday.

The Citizens' defensive frailties were on full show in Tuesday's trip to the Gtech Community Stadium, as the visitors conceded two late goals to draw 2-2 against Brentford and slip 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Ipswich went into Thursday's home clash against Brighton sitting outside of the relegation zone on goal difference, but a 2-0 defeat sucked the Tractor Boys back into the bottom three and ended their three-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Team news

Ipswich forward Sammie Szmodics missed the Brighton loss due to an ankle issue and he will need to be assessed, while Axel Tuanzebe, Conor Chaplin and Chiedozie Ogbene are all sidelined.

John Stones is closing in on a return for City, though next week's Champions League clash at Paris Saint-Germain is a more likely comeback game, while Ruben Dias could be back in contention for the Chelsea fixture next weekend.

Oscar Bobb has already trained with the team and is now building his physical condition, with a February return pencilled in, while Rodri is a long-term absentee.

The stats

Ipswich had won two home games in a row, beating Chelsea in the league and Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup before seeing that run ended by visitors Brighton on Thursday.

The Tractor Boys have scored just 20 goals in the league, only rock-bottom Southampton (13) and fellow strugglers Everton (15) have netted fewer times.

City have won just one of their last 10 away matches in all competitions, conceding twice or more in nine of those fixtures.

England international Phil Foden scored a brace in Tuesday's draw at Brentford, making it three goals from his last two league appearances.

Prediction

City are hard to trust this season and the defensive collapse at Brentford last time out shows they are still not firing on all cylinders, making them difficult to back at 2/7 with LiveScore Bet to get the win.

Ipswich have shown their quality this term, beating the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham and they will try to make things as uncomfortable as possible for the reigning English champions.

Given the concerns over the Citizens' form, the better play here is to look in the anytime goalscorer market and Foden provides great value to continue his form in front of goal.

The 24-year-old has scored three goals in his last two league outings, taking his season tally to seven in all competitions and he looks capable of finding the back of the net again at Portman Road.
