Coventry vs Leeds predictions: Leaders likely to edge out Lampard's men
- Leeds are two points clear at the top of the table
- Coventry are 11th in the Championship standings
- Recommended bet: Leeds to win and both teams to score
Leeds are on course for a return to the Premier League and, while Wednesday's trip to in-form Coventry is another test of their promotion mettle, the Whites can emerge unscathed to extend their lead at the top of the Championship.
The Sky Blues are on the up under Frank Lampard, winning four straight games to move into play-off contention themselves, and are likely to make things difficult for the visitors.
Team news
Ephron Mason-Clark, Ben Sheaf and Haji Wright are all expected to miss out for the home side.
Leeds are hoping to sign Cameron Archer from Southampton, but even if the deal goes through in time, he may not be available for the trip to the Midlands.
The visitors will again be without Patrick Bamford, while Max Wober and Sam Chambers will be checked ahead of the game.
Pascal Struijk is closing in on full fitness and came off the bench at the weekend, so could start.
The stats
Leeds have not conceded a goal in their last four league games.
The Whites won the reverse fixture at Elland Road in September 3-0.
Leeds have the best home record in the division, but away from home promotion rivals Sunderland, Burnley and Sheffield United have all picked up more points than them.
Coventry have only failed to score in one of their last 14 home games.
The Sky Blues have drawn at home with Sheffield United this season and beaten Blackburn, Watford and Bristol City in other notable results in front of their own fans.
Prediction
Leeds look to be the outstanding team in the second tier and even though Sheffield United and Burnley will have other ideas, it would be a surprise if the Whites do not go on and win the title.
Daniel Farke's side are on a 12-game unbeaten league run and the manner of their 7-0 home demolition of Cardiff at the weekend sent out a message to the rest that the Yorkshire giants will take some stopping in the second half of the campaign.
Coventry have impressed as well since the turn of the year and have beaten Bristol City, Watford, Swansea and Blackburn in recent weeks to suggest they can compete for at least a top-six place under Lampard.
However, up against the leaders their winning run looks set to come to an end. City have only failed to score in one of their last 11 games and while Leeds' defence has been watertight lately, the hosts can score in a narrow defeat.
