Draw

Arsenal and Manchester City renew their rivalry on Sunday when second in the Premier League meets fourth at the Emirates Stadium.

After both teams enjoyed victories in the Champions League in midweek – Arsenal edged out Girona to book a last-16 place while City scraped into the play-off round after coming from behind to beat Club Brugge – the focus is now back on domestic duties.

The Gunners are second, six points behind leaders Liverpool going into the weekend's action, with City fourth, six points adrift of Sunday's opponents.

Team news

Myles Lewis-Skelly's controversial red card at Wolves last week was overturned on appeal, so the Arsenal defender is free to face the Citizens.

First-choice goalkeeper David Raya is a doubt for the hosts after Mikel Arteta confirmed he missed the Girona clash due to injury so Neto is on standby to start.

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are all still absent for the Gunners.

January signings Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis will all hope to feature for City, who could also have Oscar Bobb back in the squad after six months out.

Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias and Jeremy Doku are all unlikely to return on Sunday, while Rodri remains out long-term.

The stats

Arsenal are the only side yet to lose a home game in the top-flight this season and have only failed to score in one of their Emirates league games this term.

City have only failed to find the back of the net in one of their away league fixtures this season.

The last two meetings between the sides have ended in draws.

Prediction

After starting the year with a draw at Brighton and cup defeats to Newcastle and Manchester United, Arsenal have since won four of their last five games in all competitions to progress comfortably in Europe and stay on Liverpool's coat-tails in the league.

It has been far from straightforward for Arteta's side, though, as in recent games they were frustrated by Aston Villa when throwing away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at home, while they left it late to edge out Wolves away 1-0 last weekend.

They can barely afford to drop points if they want to stay in title contention, but City look more than capable of getting something from their trip to the Emirates.

Guardiola's side have managed to recover from their awful slump throughout November and December and it is now four wins from their last five in the league after they saw off Chelsea 3-1 at the Etihad.

They followed that result up with a play-off-salvaging victory over Club Brugge in the Champions League and can pick up what would be viewed as a decent draw at Arsenal to stay in the top-four mix.
