Andy Dallas scored twice on his debut to lift Morecambe off the bottom of the League Two table with a much-needed 4-2 win over Fleetwood.
Morecambe took the lead from the penalty spot in the 13th minute. Hallam Hope’s left-wing cross hit the hand of Shaun Rooney and Callum Cooke beat Jay Lynch from the spot.
Cooke went close to making it 2-0 with a free-kick from 20 yards that beat the wall but hit the outside of the post.
Fleetwood came back into the game three minutes from the break when James Bolton was left free in the Morecambe box to head home Phoenix Patterson’s left-wing corner.
Dallas, who joined the club on loan from Barnsley on Friday, then scored with a superb strike from the edge of the box and added a second on the hour with a close-range finish.
Matty Virtue pulled one back with a tap-in after being gifted a chance by some poor Morecambe defending.
Ryan Graydon missed a golden opportunity to level the scores when played in on goal on 79 minutes and he was made to pay when Marcus Dackers headed home Adam Lewis’ cross four minutes from time.
