Tottenham have boosted their attacking options by signing Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.

The Welsh forward, 22, joins Ange Postecoglou's side to soften the blow of Harry Kane's switch to Bayern Munich — and give Richarlison some much-needed competition up top.

Johnson impressed in the Premier League with Forest last season after playing a pivotal role in his boyhood club's promotion to the top flight.

The 20-cap international scored eight goals and registered three assists as Steve Cooper's side narrowly avoided an instant return to the Championship.

Johnson will now look to take his career to another level in North London alongside the likes of James Maddison, Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski, while also linking up with international team-mate Ben Davies.

Spurs have looked dangerous despite Kane's departure last month, with Maddison in particular proving to be an astute signing.

And Postecoglou will be delighted to have another speedy outlet in Johnson as he looks to implement an attacking brand of football.

Forest secured the signing of Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea earlier on deadline day to soften the blow of selling their star man.

They turned down two bids from Brentford for Johnson — who can play anywhere across the front three — earlier in the window.

But his departure will help satisfy their Financial Fair Play requirements.
