Manchester United vs Crystal Palace predictions: Eagles can make better start at Old Trafford
- Manchester United won 2-0 at FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday
- Crystal Palace are looking to bounce back from a 2-1 home loss to Brentford
- Recommended bet: Draw No Bet 1st Half - Crystal Palace
Manchester United have not had many good weeks over the past couple of seasons but Sunday's 1-0 win at Fulham and Thursday's 2-0 win at FCSB add up to a good few days.
To make the week a perfect one they will expect to beat Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, though the Eagles have been flying recently and save their best efforts for the road.
Team news
Ruben Amorim will have to monitor the workloads of the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo.
Luke Shaw and Mason Mount are close to returns after lay-offs.
Palace are still without Adam Wharton and Chadi Riad and with Trevor Chalobah recalled by Chelsea, it means Oliver Glasner is wedded into his current back five which he may want to strengthen over the next couple of days.
Romain Esse scored his first goal since his switch from Millwall in a late cameo against Brentford last time out and is pushing for a start.
The stats
United have failed to score in any of their last three league games against Palace.
United have failed to score in the first half of 17 of their 23 league matches this season, the most in the division. Palace have only conceded three first-half goals away from home, the joint-best record in the top flight.
Palace are unbeaten in their last seven away games. They have won more away points (13) than any other side since the start of December.
In the goals-per-game table, United sit equal 17th (2.61) with Palace in 19th (2.43). Only Everton's games feature fewer goals.
Prediction
United will be delighted to be playing at home after a tricky week on the road but it remains to be seen how much gas there is left in the tank.
Unimpressive in edging to a 1-0 success at Fulham on Sunday, they were better winning 2-0 at FCSB in Bucharest in the Europa League.
But that is a tiring few days during a tiring season and Crystal Palace, fresh to go after a week off, on a decent run until last weekend and with a good record against United, are more than capable of avoiding defeat at Old Trafford.
There are only two points between the sides in the Premier League table and while United have been jobbing around in mid-table for much of the campaign, Palace are on the up after a slow start and are unbeaten in their last seven away matches.
Oliver Glasner will have been bitterly disappointed with last Sunday's 2-1 loss against Brentford which snapped a good run of results.
But away from home they are unbeaten since October with pacy weaponry in attack which makes them a colossal threat on the counter.
Palace can get something from this though and statistically they should certainly be going in level at half-time at the very least. United have only found the net in the first half on six occasions this season and could easily be jaded.
Looking at the 1st Half Draw No Bet market, Palace look worthy of establishing an advantage by the break
