Carlo Ancelotti has defensive issues to ponder ahead of Real Madrid's derby with Atletico

- Girona have lost seven of their last 10 games in all competitions
- Real and Atletico have drawn six of their last seven meetings after 90 minutes
- Real Sociedad have kept four clean sheets in five home league outings

There is a long way to go in La Liga as the season reaches Gameweek 23 and the title race is developing into an intriguing three-way battle between Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Real lead the way but they are only one point clear of Atletico and those fierce Madrid rivals lock horns on Saturday evening, so Barcelona will be hoping to make inroads in Sunday's trip to Sevilla.

Rayo Vallecano vs Real Valladolid (Friday, 8pm)

Rooted to the foot of La Liga, Real Valladolid have lost 10 of their 11 away games and more road misery may follow. That said, both teams have scored in nine of Rayo Vallecano's 10 home league outings.

Score prediction: Rayo Vallecano 2-1 Real Valladolid

Celta Vigo vs Real Betis (Saturday, 1pm)

Celta Vigo are on a four-game winless run in La Liga but they have picked up 20 of their 25 points at home and they may play out an entertaining draw with Real Betis. It was 2-2 when these sides clashed at the Estadio Benito Villamarin in November.

Score prediction: Celta Vigo 2-2 Real Betis

Athletic Bilbao vs Girona (Saturday, 3.15pm)

Athletic Bilbao are pushing for a top four finish
Athletic Bilbao are pushing for a top four finish

Athletic Bilbao sit fourth, within eight points of leaders Real, and only one defeat in 11 home league games suggests they should make the most of their familiar surroundings. Girona have lost seven of their last 10 in all competitions and are flattering to deceive.

Score prediction: Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Girona

Las Palmas vs Villarreal (Saturday, 3.15pm)

Las Palmas are awkward opponents at the Estadio de Gran Canaria and they can frustrate Villarreal, who have won only two of their last seven away league games. The hosts have held Real Madrid, Real Betis and Osasuna to 1-1 draws on their own patch this term.

Score prediction: Las Palmas 1-1 Villarreal

Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid (Saturday, 8pm)

It does not get much bigger than a title showdown between fierce rivals and this one could end honours even. Real are going through a bit of a defensive injury crisis and six of their last seven rivalries with Atletico ended level after 90 minutes.

Score prediction: Real Madrid 1-1 Atletico Madrid

Alaves vs Getafe (Sunday, 1pm)

Getafe have taken eight points from their last four matches to ease their La Liga relegation fears and they may settle for a point at third-bottom Alaves, who have drawn three of their last four at home 1-1.

Score prediction: Alaves 1-1 Getafe

Valencia vs Leganes (Sunday, 3.15pm)

The atmosphere at the Mestalla could be key to Valencia's survival hopes
The atmosphere at the Mestalla could be key to Valencia's survival hopes

Valencia have taken a couple of recent hidings from Barcelona but they have recorded back-to-back home league wins over Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo and claim three precious points in their battle to beat the drop against Leganes, who have fired consecutive blanks against Athletic Bilbao and Rayo Vallecano.

Score prediction: Valencia 1-0 Leganes

Real Sociedad vs Espanyol (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Espanyol stunned Real Madrid in a 1-0 win last weekend but they have been utterly hopeless on their travels, taking only two points from 10 away games. Another road defeat should follow at Real Sociedad, who have kept four clean sheets in five home league outings.

Score prediction: Real Sociedad 2-0 Espanyol

Sevilla vs Barcelona (Sunday, 8pm)

Hansi Flick takes Barcelona south to face Sevilla
Hansi Flick takes Barcelona south to face Sevilla

Barcelona are starting to go through the gears and, having scored five or more in five of their last eight matches in all competitions, this looks an ominous task for Sevilla. The Catalan giants have also won the last six league meetings between the pair.

Score prediction: Sevilla 1-3 Barcelona

Mallorca vs Osasuna (Monday, 8pm)

Mallorca are on a miserable run, having lost their last five games in all competitions to nil, and they may be worth taking on against Osasuna. That said, goals may be in short supply given the visitors have seen under 2.5 goals in seven of their last eight on the road.

Score prediction: Mallorca 0-1 Osasuna
