After a midweek of European excitement, all the big names will be in action over the weekend, but there are a few unheralded stars to look out for, including an under-rated Brentford striker.

The jury might still be out on Mateo Retegui in the Champions League, but he has excelled in Serie A since joining Atalanta from Genoa last summer.

Retegui leads the capocannoniere standings for the Italian top-flight's top scorers with 16 strikes, including four in La Dea's last three Serie A games.

He netted both goals in last weekend's 2-1 win at Como and could have a say in ending Torino's five-match unbeaten run on Saturday.

Jonathan David missed Lille's 2-1 defeat at Strasbourg through suspension, but returned to score their fifth goal in Wednesday's 6-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord.

That strike was the Canadian's sixth in eight European games, while he has also managed 11 in Ligue 1 and, despite being odds-on, is worth considering for improving his tally against St Etienne.

Les Verts have the second-worst defensive record in the French top-flight and are yet to keep an away clean sheet.

Tottenham gained some respite by beating Elfsborg 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday, but last weekend's defeat to Leicester was their fourth on the bounce in the Premier League and they face an extremely awkward trip to Brentford on Sunday.

Bryan Mbeumo's record suggests he could be a major source of frustration.

The forward, who has been linked with Spurs in the past, netted a penalty in last weekend's 2-1 win at Crystal Palace and has scored four times in the previous four meetings of these two teams, including the opener in last September's reverse fixture.

Florian Wirtz netted Bayer Leverkusen's opener in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Sparta Prague and has now scored seven times in his team's last seven competitive home matches.

That tally can be improved against Hoffenheim, who battled to a 4-3 Europa League win at Anderlecht on Thursday and face a short turnaround.

The side from Sinsheim have conceded two or more goals in four of their last five in all competitions and can clearly be got at.

Napoli are still to tie Frank Anguissa to a new contract and he is sure to have suitors, especially considering his recent scoring run.

Last week's strike against Juventus was his second in three games and his fifth in Serie A this season.

The 29-year-old next faces a Roma defence who kept their first clean sheet in four against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday and Anguissa looks a better value option over Romelu Lukaku, who is 49/20 to net against his former club.
