Emma Hayes insists tonight's Conti Cup showdown with Manchester City is not a revenge mission.

The Blues were beaten 1-0 by City at Kingsmeadow last month as Gareth Taylor's side blew the Women's Super League title race wide open.

Yet with Arsenal awaiting the winners in the Conti Cup final later this month, Hayes is adamant her team will simply be looking to win.

She said: "This is not Star Wars. This is no Death Star-destroying moment.

"Revenge for me is something I don't really think about when it comes to football. What I know is they're a top team who took points off of us at home, with not a lot between the two sides.

"It is important the team learns what's most important from the last game and look at the opportunities that are there for us.

"That's something we spoke about as a team and we trained on a couple of things.

"We have a game plan in mind. We know what we have to execute to be at a better level, particularly going forward.

"It was a good performance at the weekend [at Leicester] and we take that into the game.

"I love being in these games and I know the team love being in these situations.

Chelsea hammered Leicester 4-0 at the King Power Stadium last Sunday to keep their bid for a fifth successive WSL crown on track.

They are level on points with City but have a superior goal difference in the battle to lift the trophy one final time under Hayes' leadership before she departs to take charge of the United States Women's team.

And with Chelsea still chasing glory on four fronts, Hayes was delighted to see Catarina Macario score on her debut against the Foxes as she began to put her injury nightmare behind her.

Hayes, 47, added: "She's someone I wanted to bring to this club and I knew we were taking someone who wasn't 100% fit.

"Maybe I didn't think it would take this long but she's had setbacks. I'm just delighted she can finally progress her career with Chelsea."
