- Recommended bet: Bet Builder – BTTS, Bayer Leverkusen to win and Over 2.5 goals
One of the standout matches on Tuesday’s Champions League fixture list sees Bayer Leverkusen host AC Milan at the BayArena.
The German champions made a fantastic return to Europe’s top club competition, with a 4-0 hammering of Feyenoord in the Netherlands last time out.
In contrast, Milan took an early lead before falling to a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at the San Siro in Gameweek One.
They did respond with back-to-back Serie A wins, but this is a much bigger test against a team unbeaten in their last four matches.
Team news
Leverkusen have no fresh injury concerns, following their 1-1 Bundesliga draw at Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Moroccan forward Amine Adli is pushing for a start, having come on as a second-half substitute in the clash at the Allianz Arena.
Paulo Fonseca was able to make a number of second-half changes on Friday night to keep players fresh, with his team 3-0 up at the break against Lecce.
Despite getting sent off late in that match, Davide Bartesaghi will be available, but Ismael Bennacer and Alessandro Florenzi are both sidelined by injury.
The stats
Leverkusen have scored in each of their last eight competitive matches, finding the net on 21 occasions already this season.
Milan’s only win in their last seven away games came at their home ground, with a 2-1 success over city rivals Inter.
Florian Wirtz has scored four goals in the last four matches for Xabi Alonso’s men.
Christian Pulisic has the same record as Wirtz and found the net in the Gameweek One defeat to Liverpool.
Prediction
It is hard to see anything other than a home win when you consider the way Leverkusen have responded to an early season setback.
Alonso’s squad had been 2-0 up against RB Leipzig at home in August, only to eventually lose that game 3-2.
The Germans have since won three and drawn one, with a 4-0 away win at Feyenoord in the last Champions League tie showing their desire to go deep in this tournament.
Milan may be third in Serie A, but the pressure has been ramping up on their manager after starting the season without a win in their opening three matches.
They caught Inter on an off day, with the Nerazzurri fresh from an energy-sapping clash at Manchester City days earlier, while Saturday’s win came against a struggling Lecce side.
Milan have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 away games and that will be a concern for coach Fonseca, especially with the firepower Leverkusen have at their disposal.
Only Bayern have scored more goals than the Bundesliga champions in their domestic league, having bagged 14 times in five matches.
