Julen Lopetegui is still to get the best out of his West Ham squad

- West Ham unbeaten in their last two games; Brighton winless in four
- Both teams have scored in the Hammers' last four and the Seagulls' last nine
- Recommended bet:
Over 3.5 goals

Brighton's fast start to the season has petered out and the Seagulls head to West Ham on Saturday without a win in their last four.

The Hammers have also struggled for consistency but have avoided defeat in their last two, beating Wolves 2-1 before drawing 1-1 at Bournemouth on Monday.

They previously had a pitiful record against Brighton, failing to win any of the pair's first 12 meetings following the Falmer side's promotion to the Premier League in 2017.

West Ham won 3-1 at the Amex in August 2023 before playing out a 0-0 draw at the London Stadium last January.

That stalemate is an outlier in the pair's previous results and looking at both of their recent records, goals look the way to go in Stratford.

Team news

West Ham will be without midfielder Carlos Soler after he picked up his fifth booking of the season against Bournemouth, but left-back Emerson is available following a ban.

Lucas Paqueta scored off the bench at the Vitality Stadium and could be rewarded by taking Soler's place, with he and Edson Alvarez both one yellow away from suspension.

Albion defensive duo Lewis Dunk and Jan Paul van Hecke are also a caution away from being unavailable for their team's next game against Brentford.

The stats

Three or more goals have been scored in seven of West Ham's nine home games in all competitions.

Exactly four goals have been scored in Brighton's last three matches.

West Ham's 16 goals conceded at home is the third worst in the Premier League, while Brighton's 13 scored is a better tally than Arsenal and both Manchester clubs.

The Seagulls have lost only one of 14 Premier League meetings with West Ham and have never lost at the London Stadium.

Prediction

Brighton made a flying start under Fabian Hurzeler but the wins have dried up, with them failing to triumph in their last four.

A trip to the London Stadium looks a decent opportunity to snap their streak, as although the Hammers are unbeaten in their last two games, there are still doubts about Julen Lopetegui's approach and questions about his future.

The Hammers have at least won three of their last five at home and their games in Stratford tend to be exciting, with both sides scoring in six of their eight home league fixtures.

It's the same case for Brighton's last nine in all competitions, with five of those featuring over 3.5 goals.

With both struggling at the back – they have kept only six clean sheets between them in their combined 32 league games – an open game is forecast.
