Draw

Liverpool will be aiming to finish with a perfect eight from eight winning record in the new League Phase of the Champions League when the leaders go to PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.

The Reds are already guaranteed to finish first or second in the table and have confirmed their last-16 spot after racking up seven wins so far, while PSV look likely to be one of the 16 teams going into next month's play-offs.

Team news

PSV will be without injured trio Sergino Dest, Adamo Nagalo and Couhaib Driouech, while Ryan Flamingo is suspended.

Mauro Junior is walking a disciplinary tightrope as he will miss the next game if he is booked.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot is likely to leave out some first-team regulars with the likes of Harvey Elliott, Wataru Endo and Federico Chiesa among those hoping to start.

Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah could be granted a rest, while Ibrahima Konate and Alexis Mac Allister may not feature as they risk missing the next game in the competition if they pick up a booking.

Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez are all set to miss out through injury for the visitors.

The stats

Liverpool could record their best ever sequence of eight Champions League wins in a row with victory.

Slot's side have conceded just two goals in the competition this season with only Inter Milan (one) letting in fewer.

Liverpool have won each of the last five meetings between the two sides in the Champions League, most recently when securing a 3-1 victory away in December 2008 in the old group phase.

After failing to win any of their first three games in this season's competition, PSV have since won three of their last four.

The Dutch giants are unbeaten at home in the Champions League this term, drawing with Sporting Lisbon and beating Shakhtar Donetsk and Girona.

A Super Cup defeat against Feyenoord on penalties in August is PSV's only loss in the last 55 matches played at their Philips Stadium home.

Prediction

Liverpool's perfect Champions League run this season looks set to end against PSV Eindhoven when the Dutch outfit can claim a point to seal a play-off place and keep their hopes of securing a last-16 spot alive.

The Premier League side have already stormed through to the knockout stage after reeling off wins over AC Milan, Bologna, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Girona, RB Leipzig and Lille so far.

Only Barcelona can prevent the Reds from finishing top and, while they will want to preserve their winning record, a slightly weakened team may have to settle for a point against PSV, who know a draw would be enough to confirm their play-off place.

The Eredivisie side have a great home record, have won three of their last four Champions League games and also drew earlier in the campaign away at Paris Saint-Germain to suggest they can approach their likely two-legged play-off with some confidence.

Peter Bosz's side are top of the Dutch first division and head into the final League Phase Matchday in decent form, winning three of their last four games in all competitions, and they can secure what would be valuable point.
