Norwich to win

After returning to winning ways in emphatic style during the week, Norwich will be aiming to follow up with another success when they play host to Luton in the Championship on Saturday.

The Canaries had failed to win any of their previous seven matches heading into Tuesday's clash with Plymouth at Carrow Road, but they turned on the style against Wayne Rooney's team, triumphing 6-1 thanks in part to a hat-trick from the division's leading scorer Borja Sainz.

While Norwich were celebrating during the week, Luton were comprehensively beaten 3-0 at Leeds, a result that leaves the Hatters just three points above the relegation zone and with questions marks remaining over manager Rob Edwards' future.

Team news

After winning so convincingly during the week, Norwich head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup could be tempted to stick with the same starting XI, although Kellen Fisher is an option in defence after returning from suspension.

Marcelino Nunez (hip) and Josh Sargent (groin) remain key absentees for the Canaries, the latter is not expected to return until the New Year.

Edwards is expected to make changes for Luton following their midweek loss at Elland Road, with Daiko Hashioka, Tahith Chong and Elijah Adebayo among those hoping to earn recalls.

Wing-back Alfie Doughty remains sidelined with an ankle complaint.

The stats

Norwich head into this weekend's action as the joint-leading scorers in the Championship, netting 31 times in their 17 games to date.

That total has been helped considerably by the Championship's leading scorer Sainz, who took his individual tally for the season to 14 with his three-goal haul against Plymouth.

Luton's hangover from last season's relegation has seen them win just five of their 17 games since returning to the second tier.

The Hatters have particularly struggled on the road, winning just once, while they will head to Carrow Road having lost five away matches on the bounce.

Luton have won five of their last six meetings with Norwich, the exception being a 3-0 home success for the Canaries in March 2021.

Prediction

Question marks were perhaps starting to surround Norwich boss Thorup heading into their midweek clash with Plymouth, but the emphatic nature of that 6-1 win should have given the Dane some breathing space and provided his side with a bounce heading into this contest with poor travellers Luton.

Norwich were beaten by Bristol City in their previous home match before that Plymouth win, but that is the only loss they have suffered at Carrow Road across their last 26 matches, a run that stretches back over a calendar year.

The Canaries will be confident of adding to that impressive home record against a Luton side that simply cannot build any momentum since being relegated from the Premier League.

Hatters boss Edwards is under pressure and he cannot take much heart from Luton's recent away fixtures, as not only have they lost five on the bounce on the road, but they have conceded 16 goals in the process.

Another heavy defeat could prove curtains for Edwards, with Norwich fancied to pick up all three points.
