George Lloyd scores winner as 10-man Shrewsbury hit back to beat Mansfield
George Lloyd inspired 10-man Shrewsbury to a 2-1 comeback victory at home to Mansfield.
The visitors opened the scoring inside five minutes through Will Evans, who was lurking on the last line of the Shrewsbury defence to convert from close range.
Evans tried his luck from distance just past the 20-minute mark, but Jamal Blackman saved.
Toto Nsiala was shown a red card after half-an-hour for bringing down Lee Gregory just outside the box. Stephen McLaughlin took the set-piece, but the hosts cleared.
Shrewsbury got an equaliser through John Marquis in the 54th minute as he rose highest at the back post and headed in.
Lloyd put the hosts in front just past the hour mark, receiving a through-ball and striking past Christy Pym at his near post.
Minutes later the visitors went close to an instant reply.
McLaughlin’s shot cannoned off a post before a host of Mansfield bodies were denied by Blackman.
Mansfield had the ball cleared off the line by Josh Feeney late on, but Shrewsbury held on
